About This Project

Nestled in a tight bend of the River Clyde in Glasgow this is the former site of a 19th Century reservoir and colliery. However by the 1940’s it was being used as farmland, then for dumping rubble from the Gorbals in the 1960’s. Having been long neglected and become derelict scrub land it is now a vibrant 15 hectare Woodland Park and is the largest urban park in South Lanarkshire.

Clyde Gateway and Forestry Lane Scotland have done an amazing job of transforming this area ably assisted by the good people of Robertson Group, a Scotland based construction and infrastructure business.

We were privileged to work at this very interesting location designing, manufacturing and installing a varied range of signage.  From striking Corten lecterns to classic fingerposts and timber lecterns to flag signs you’ll find them here.  The Corten monoliths had been installed for about 6 months by the time these photographs were taken and the distinctive patina is well developed.  The majority of the corrosive process has taken place and these will gradually darken over time.

The area is well supplied with leisure activities including bike tracks, a bouldering park and 2 miles of trails to explore, as well as being a haven for wildlife.  Cuningar Loop is a great example of how vision and patience can transform an under utilised area into a truly valuable resource.
