Signage and Furniture Design

Sustainable outdoor furniture
and signage

At Hornbeck, we are experienced in all the key building materials – aluminium, different types of steel, plastic, hardwood and modified timbers. Sustainability is a key focus and where possible items are recycled or renewable, and capable of being refurbished or recycled at the end of life.

Purposeful public space design

By drawing on our design resources we can create structures that are perfectly appropriate to their environment and either fit in unobtrusively or create a statement, whichever is required.

Seamless signage and furniture design

When signage and furniture are designed together, they look like they belong together giving your site a seamless appearance. While this may not be consciously noticed by the visitors, the overall feeling of good design contributes subtly to the ambience of the surroundings.

Our signage and furniture design process

We follow a four-stage methodology to ensure that our designer furniture for public areas and signage solutions are functional, durable, and visually cohesive.

ICN01 Discover

DISCOVER

We begin by understanding your vision, objectives, and the environment where the signage and furniture will be placed. Our team explores material options, sustainability considerations, and design possibilities to ensure the best outcome. The project scope is then outlined, defining specifications for size, materials, finishes, and special features.

DEVELOP

With the vision and requirements in place, we assess budget constraints while maintaining quality and durability. Our designers create initial concepts that balance aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability. Feedback and refinements ensure the final design is both practical and visually compelling.

ICN02 Develop
ICN03 Design

detail

This stage focuses on producing detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and material lists. Location planning ensures the signage and designer public areas furniture integrate seamlessly into the space. Necessary approvals are secured to meet local regulations and safety standards.

DELIVER

Once designs are finalised, we proceed with production using high-quality materials and precision manufacturing. Our team manages the installation, ensuring all elements align with the planned design and environmental requirements. The result is a well-executed vision with durable, high-quality signage and designer furniture for public areas that enhance public spaces.

ICN04 Deliver

Materials

We prioritise sustainability in every aspect of our design process, including material selection. Our sustainable outdoor furniture is crafted from high-quality, eco-friendly materials that balance durability, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility.

Metal is a durable and versatile option, offering exceptional strength and longevity. Aluminium is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and fully recyclable, making it an ideal choice for outdoor environments. Stainless steel and powder-coated steel provide additional durability, ensuring resistance to weathering and vandalism.

Recycled plastic is a sustainable alternative that repurposes waste materials into durable, low-maintenance furniture. It is highly resistant to moisture, rot, and UV damage, making it perfect for public spaces. Unlike traditional plastics, recycled plastic reduces landfill waste and minimises the demand for virgin materials.

Sustainably sourced timber combines natural beauty with responsible forestry practices. Hardwoods and modified timbers provide warmth and character while being durable enough to withstand outdoor conditions. Sourced from certified forests, these materials ensure minimal environmental impact while maintaining the timeless appeal of wood.

Sustainable Furniture

A well-planned wayfinding strategy relies on different types of signage to help people navigate spaces efficiently. The four main types of wayfinding are identification, directional, informational, and regulatory. Each type serves a distinct purpose in guiding users while enhancing the overall experience of a location.

A striking addition to any street scene, this monolith features digitally printed toughened glass and a reinforced steel frame for exceptional durability. It can be customised in width and height to fit any environment and offers optional illumination for added visibility.

A sleek wayfinding solution with multiple design and finish options. This post features eight mounting positions, 45° angled arms, and a concealed locking scheme for a seamless look in urban spaces.

A timeless, classic display designed for easy graphic panel updates. Available in five versions, it offers impeccable craftsmanship, secure fastening, and compatibility with the Newbury notice case range.

This oak and HardRok tray lectern provides edge-to-edge graphics, quick panel replacements, and efficient rainwater run-off. Matching monoliths from the Braemar range are available for a cohesive aesthetic.

A minimalistic lighting bollard that blends into its surroundings by day and provides soft illumination at night. Made from class 3 timber like larch, chestnut, or oak, it ensures longevity with natural durability.

With a rough, natural chestnut exterior, the Bosco lighting bollard is ideal for trails and paths. It minimises light pollution while providing subtle illumination, seamlessly disappearing into landscapes during the day.

These sustainable products are designed to enhance public spaces while promoting
eco-conscious signage design and functionality.
