Signage & wayfinding for Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire - Hornbeck

About This Project

This legendary place needs no introduction; in fact, the motto is ‘Where legends grow.’ Sherwood Forest is managed by the RSPB in a partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council, Sherwood Forest Trust, Thoresby Estate and The Woodland Trust.

As part of a rebranding exercise, the entrance and car park signage was redesigned and installation was timed to coincide with the launch of the new visitor centre. Simple yet striking branding ensures these signs stand out and as the timber gradually weathers down will provide a perfect introduction to this remarkable place.

Robin Hood is undoubtedly the most famous resident of the Forest; however, the Major Oak was here before him (apparently it’s around 1000 years old). Other residents who enjoy living here include the lesser spotted woodpecker and the tree pipit.

We look forward to continuing our work with the RSPB and their partners at Sherwood!

Update:

The wayfinding is now installed and looks equally eye-catching. No power tools were used in the installation to minimise the disturbance to surrounding wildlife, and SSSI-quality installation ensured zero contamination of the ground.
