Signage & wayfinding for Hatfield House, Hertfordshire

About This Project

Hatfield House is an amazing destination. It has been in the ownership of the Cecil family for over 400 years and is steeped in history – ancient and modern. The daughter of Henry VIII was living in the Old Palace in 1558 when she learnt of the death of her sister, thus becoming the monarch better known as Queen Elizabeth I. The current house dates back to 1611 and is a beautiful example of Jacobean architecture.

Attractions include the House with its stunning interiors, the gardens, a children’s play area, Hatfield Park Farm and a selection of fascinating shops. With excellent road and rail access, it really is a must-visit family destination.

Landmark is very privileged to have worked at this extraordinary location and has just completed phase two of the signage programme. The first phase was the external signage, digitally printed aluminium trays mounted between oak posts. Installation involved a lane closure on the busy A414 while the signs were being craned into position, and this was successfully completed.

The second phase was the internal signage which followed a similar style, although somewhat smaller and without lane closures!

A critical requirement was to match the Hatfield House corporate blue; this was achieved and the end result looks great. This has been a very satisfying project and we look forward to working with the team again.
