Wayfinding for Spalding 1, Lincolnshire – strategy

About This Project

South Holland District Council issued a tender for a new wayfinding strategy in Spalding, and we were very pleased to be awarded this project. Much research went into it, using experience gained at nearby Sleaford and a new brand and toolkit, along with a basemap were put together to provide a DSP (Design Specification Pack).

Spalding is a well know market town in Lincoln on the River Welland and is the administrative centre of the South Holland District. It was known for the annual Spalding Flower Parade from 1959 to 2013 to celebrate the tulip production in the region, and was revived again in 2013.

The existing wayfinding was inconsistent and outdated and there was a wish to promote the image of Spalding along with pointing out the many historic buildings and features within the town.
The Council team worked tirelessly to help put this project together especially coordinating the many organisations within Spalding the wider Linconshire area to create a really compelling vision for the wayfinding scheme.

The chosen scheme was felt to be most appropriate and works very well against the architectural backdrop of this fascinating town.
