Lighting Domaine Evremond: Enhancing a magical vineyard with thoughtful design

Improve visitor experience with lighting

Written by Bianca - 7 Aug 2025

Set in the heart of the Kent countryside, Domaine Evremond is a vineyard of both heritage and ambition. Spanning over 100 acres, the site is backed by the renowned Champagne Taittinger and dedicated to producing premium English sparkling wine. But it’s more than a place of cultivation; it’s a destination. With its rolling landscape and growing reputation, the estate welcomes guests who expect a well-considered environment that balances beauty, clarity, and ease of movement.

We were proud to contribute to this vision by providing discreet yet durable timber signage and energy efficient lighting, designed to improve visitor experience without disrupting the natural charm of the surroundings.

The challenge: Balancing elegance, function, and sustainability

Working within a setting as refined as Domaine Evremond required a sensitive approach. The brief called for infrastructure that would quietly support the visitor journey without drawing attention to itself. Every element needed to sit comfortably within the natural landscape and complement the estate’s character, not compete with it.

Sustainability was central to the design process. Materials had to be responsibly sourced, and installation needed to respect the land, cause minimal disruption, maximum longevity. Lighting posed a particular challenge: it had to be effective enough to guide visitors safely after dark, yet soft enough to preserve the site’s rural atmosphere.

What makes a great visitor experience in spaces like this is often what goes unnoticed—clear direction, subtle lighting, and a sense of calm cohesion throughout. That was the balance we aimed to strike.

Crafting a cohesive public space

At Hornbeck (formerly Made by Landmark), we specialise in enhancing shared spaces through well-considered design, bringing together functionality, durability, and visual integrity. Our approach is rooted in the belief that public infrastructure should do more than serve a purpose; it should contribute to the character and usability of the environment.

For Domaine Evremond, we worked closely with the team to understand their vision. The brief called for elements that would support a premium visitor experience while blending seamlessly with the vineyard’s landscape. We responded with a scheme that respected the heritage feel of the site while ensuring practical needs, like wayfinding and lighting, were met.

We’re experienced in working within high-end and heritage settings, where the smallest detail matters. Whether for vineyards, public parks, housing developments, or campuses, we aim to deliver solutions that fit the place and elevate the experience.

Why Strato lamp posts were the perfect choice

energy efficient lighting with Strato lamp posts

Strato 93007 lamp posts provided effective, warm-white energy efficient lighting (2700K) across key areas of the vineyard, offering good visibility without glare. Their simple, timber construction suits settings where a rustic appearance is preferred, and their LED modules offer long service life with minimal upkeep. It’s a reliable choice for projects that need lighting to support wayfinding while maintaining a low visual impact.

The timeless appeal of Braemar monoliths

At Domaine Evremond, our Braemar monoliths were used to deliver clear, durable signage that fits naturally within the landscape. Made from solid oak, they serve both directional and interpretive purposes, and weather over time from a warm tone to a soft silver-grey, helping them blend into their surroundings without losing legibility. They’re a practical solution for public spaces where visual consistency and long-term performance are important.

Designed to improve visitor experience

At Domaine Evremond, the combination of clear timber signage and carefully placed lighting supports a smooth and enjoyable visitor journey. Wayfinding is intuitive, paths are safely lit, and key areas are easy to identify—even after dark. By shaping how people move through the space, we’ve helped create an environment that encourages longer stays and leaves a lasting impression. Elements like legible signs, warm lighting, and defined pathways also support accessibility, making the site more welcoming to a wider audience.

Final thoughts

Every detail in a shared space influences how people feel, move, and connect with their surroundings. At Hornbeck, we’re proud to play a part in shaping those experiences through high-quality signage and energy efficient lighting that respects the character of the site. If you’re a landscape architect, contractor, or project lead planning your next scheme, we’d be glad to help you improve visitor experience with designs that are both practical and considered.

Good design brings places to life, and we’re grateful to contribute to that process. Get in touch to discuss your project.
