Priors Hall Park, a growing neighbourhood near Corby in Northamptonshire, is a great example of how to make sustainable urban designs work in practice. Carefully master-planned, it combines modern living with open green spaces and a clear vision for long-term community growth. Led by Urban & Civic as master developer, Priors Hall Park is being delivered through collaboration with multiple housebuilders to create a characterful and evolving community. Well-known developers such as Bovis Homes, Taylor Wimpey, and David Wilson are among those contributing to the neighbourhood, alongside others.

We’re proud to have helped bring this vision to life by enhancing the outdoor spaces with thoughtfully designed furniture, lighting, and signage, all created for durability, functionality, and character. Together, these details make the public space feel cohesive, welcoming, and built to last.

Our role in the project

Urban & Civic’s vision for Priors Hall Park goes beyond building homes; it’s about creating a distinctive and enduring place where people feel connected. Our design approach focused on blending functionality, durability, and atmosphere, ensuring every element had a clear purpose while enhancing the wider sense of place.

Creating the right ambience with lighting

Lighting plays a quiet yet powerful role in shaping how people experience a space. At Priors Hall Park, our lighting strategy was designed to create a calm, welcoming atmosphere that complements the landscape and enhances visibility after dark.

  • Strato Lamp Posts – Crafted from timber options such as larch, chestnut, or oak, these sleek and minimalist lamp posts provide balanced illumination across open walkways and landscaped areas. Their natural aesthetic and clean form ensure they sit harmoniously within the park’s environment.
  • Eye Lighting Bollards (Wired and Solar) – Designed with a contemporary wooden finish, the Eye bollards blend effortlessly into the setting during the day and glow softly at night. Whether powered by wired or solar systems, they deliver gentle, low-level lighting that enhances safety, guides movement, and adds to the park’s tranquil ambience.

Comfort and style through furniture

To complement the lighting, we introduced furniture from our Mettro range, a collection known for its clean lines, durability, and timeless appeal. Designed to enhance both comfort and functionality, the range includes benches, tables, bins, and the Mettro 106 Picnic Bench, all crafted from robust materials such as metal, timber, and recycled plastic.

The picnic bench, with its galvanised steel frame and optional RAL powdercoat finishes, offers a refined, inclusive design suitable for all users, including wheelchair access. Together, these thoughtfully placed pieces bring people together, encouraging connection and relaxation while supporting the park’s long-term sustainability and usability.

The result: Spaces that invite connection

The finished landscape at Priors Hall Park feels cohesive, welcoming, and distinctly its own. The combination of lighting, furniture, and signage creates spaces that people naturally gravitate towards, whether for a quiet moment outdoors or a casual chat with neighbours. As evening falls, the park takes on a warm, atmospheric glow. The Strato lamp posts and Eye lighting bollards illuminate paths and gathering spots with gentle precision, bringing the environment to life after dark.

Every design decision, from material choice to placement, was made to foster pride and belonging within the community. The result is a neighbourhood that looks good and functions beautifully, a place where people can connect, unwind, and feel part of something enduring.

Conclusion

Priors Hall Park stands as a testament to how thoughtful design can merge practicality with personality. Through collaboration with Urban & Civic and the wider development team, we’ve helped shape a public realm that balances aesthetics, sustainability, and everyday usability.

We believe great design should serve people and their surroundings equally. Projects like this reflect our ongoing commitment to creating outdoor environments that inspire, endure, and bring communities together.
